Why is early stimulation of language and speech important in early childhood? During the first three years of your child's life, your child is subjected to constant stimulation as he/she interacts with the world around him/her. It is exciting for most children and it indirectly affects the stimulation of language development. Speech development of a child lasts between the ages 2 and 5 (the most intensive period of development). So, early stimulation enhances the child's attention and concentration. Play is an important part of your child's speech, language and communication. Children are able to explore the world around them through play and understand more about how things work around them. The child begins to enrich his/her vocabulary and starts interacting faster with other children. All of the referred affects the child to mature more rapidly.
It is vital not to use very complex sentences when talking to a child. Use keywords. Speak slowly and point to what you are talking about. Stimulation of the language takes place immediately, through listening to music, looking at picture books and reading short stories, playing, talking during the daily activities, while cooking, while walking with your child (talk about what surrounds you at a given moment).
Through play and by spending quality time with your child daily, you can turn any event into a purposeful activity.
